Some conversations keep returning to the agenda. The wording changes and new information appears, yet the meeting ends almost where it began.
This does not always mean the team is indecisive. The stated question may be carrying an unstated concern. A budget conversation may also be about trust. A staffing question may hold grief about how the organization is changing.
Pushing harder toward resolution can keep the real issue hidden.
The next time your team circles familiar ground, pause and ask, “What concern have we not yet made room to name?”
The answer may not resolve everything. But it can help the team finally address the conversation beneath the conversation.
With you in the work,
Kevin
