The Long View No. 3 "Helping People Love What They Love"

Clarity isn’t about fixing what’s broken, but remembering what’s beautiful.

Hi friend,

A few months ago, I worked with a nonprofit leader who felt completely spent. Their calendar was full, but their heart was empty.

As we talked, I asked, “When did you first fall in love with this work?”

They paused for a long time, then shared a story about a child whose life had changed years ago through their program. Tears came. So did joy.

Nothing in their schedule changed that day — but something inside did. They remembered what they loved.

That’s my work in a sentence: helping people love what they love.

Not fixing what’s broken, but remembering what’s beautiful.

Not rushing ahead, but returning to the center.

Every organization has a heartbeat. Sometimes, we just need help hearing it again.

Reflection prompt:

What part of your work still feels holy or beautiful to you?

If you ever want to talk through it, I would be honored.

With gratitude,

Kevin
